Haruka and Michiru scared me when I was a kid because they seemed so intimidating and put together, especially in the first few episodes of their appearance when you didn’t know whether they were friends or foes. I got over my fear of them since then, but I’m still not comfortable about their characters because of their arrogance, especially since they keep on belittling the inner senshi about how much they’re better and more experienced. The fact that they failed in the end of the story arc just made me more annoyed at them.

This is kind of how I feel about the outers, specifically Neptune & Uranus.  Like, not this strongly.  But this is why I prefer the inners and why S is one of my least favorite seasons (after Stars).  I don’t dislike Haruka & Michiru.  On the contrary I think they’re fantastic women in their own right and I respect them.  But I just don’t get why the fandom is so into how ~~mature~~ they are.

The thing about Uranus and Neptune that bugs me is that they’re all “We won’t fight with you!” to the inners during S, when fighting as a team is exactly what they should’ve been doing.  And THEN, in Stars, they’re all “You can’t fight with us!  And don’t you dare go near Usagi!” to the Starlights.  And guess what?  Fighting as a team sooner would probably would have helped a lot.  When I first saw Stars I practically shouted, “HAVEN’T YOU TWO LEARNED ANYTHING?  And why are you butting in and dismissing your LEADER’S good ideas when you’ve been missing for a whole season?” *cough*

I don’t dislike Haruka and Michiru, I just really dislike the way their characters were handled in the anime (Stars, mainly).  I like them a lot in the manga, and I LOVE them in the musicals (they have some of the best songs ;__;<3).  It just bothers me so much that they didn’t learn from their own experience that they should trust Usagi’s judgement :\
